Situated at the base of the advance Tower of the Lunette, those buildings have the function to split the mountains and to menace the road. In order to defend them, Redan moats and some Trenches were built, undermining the rock face using explosive and pickaxes, and chiselling the stone following the veins of the rock.
Bunkers protect them and they make the complex of the high part of the Rocca d’Anfo elusive.
Before soldiers built the current mule track, steps and temporary wood flight connected the Lunette to the Eridio (ancient name of the Idro Lake), and they needed a continual maintenance. Then, it was possible to access a small harbour where rafts, used by soldier to guard the lake, were docked.
